On June 21, 2022, the Promotion Conference for the Full Coke Dry Quenching Retrofit and Upgrade of Shanxi Province’s coking industry was held in Xiaoyi. At the same time, the site of the Pengfei Group CDQ project undertaken by Huatai, welcomed over 100 visitors, including officials from the Shanxi Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, the Lyuliang Municipal Government, the Xiaoyi Municipal Government, and the departments of industry and information technology from various cities across Shanxi Province, as well as representatives from coking enterprises within the province.

The meeting emphasized that coking enterprises in Shanxi Province must accelerate the technological upgrading and renovation of CDQ process. In accordance with the provincial Party committee and provincial government’s arrangements for promoting the “transformation and upgrading of traditional industries” and the “cultivation and expansion of emerging industries,” the coking enterprises must firmly embrace the concept of green and low-carbon development, closely follow industry-leading standards and technologies, expedite the implementation of CDQ and its technology upgrades, and gradually phase out wet quenching.

Officials and Delegates from the Conference Visiting Huatai’s CDQ Project

As a co-organizer of this promotional conference, Pengfei Group provided attending officials and delegates with a detailed introduction and demonstration of the operational status and economic performance of the Pengfei CDQ Project and the Xinyu Juhui CDQ Project, both of which were undertaken by Huatai, and in-depth discussions and exchanges were conducted among all parties. Since the startup of these projects, Pengfei Group had seen benefits across its entire industrial chain. The new technology had reduced environmental pollution and given the factories a completely new look. The outcomes of Huatai’s CDQ technology were well recognized by the attending officials and delegates.

Currently, Shanxi Province has 31 coking plants equipped with CDQ systems, with a combined production capacity of 55.98 MTPA. Dry quenching accounts for approximately 44.7% of the total, while more than half of the coking plants still use wet quenching. According to reports, the upcoming “Guiding Opinions on Promoting High-Quality Development in the Coking Industry” to be issued by Shanxi Province explicitly sets the goal of “fully implementing dry quenching across all coking plants in the province by the end of 2023.”
